Volunteer With Us! 

As a leader in volunteer engagement, you know the importance of volunteers for an organization. Here at PAVRO volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization too!  Thank you for considering joining us on a committee or on the Board – everyone has skills that will benefit PAVRO and our members and we appreciate the time you are able to share with us. Volunteering in a leadership role also helps advance your career, allowing you to gain skills and competencies you need to take your career to the next level. 

After checking out our current opportunities the first step to getting involved is to complete the short application. A PAVRO board member will then reach out by telephone to further discuss your interests and answer any questions you have.

Current Committee Opportunities

Webinar Committee Members

Professional development and networking opportunities are key to building strong, resilient, connected volunteer engagement professionals in Ontario.  Webinar Committee members, working under the guidance of the Membership Service Co-Chair, are responsible for developing and delivering webinars to PAVRO members.  Team members work together to:  choose educational topics, source presenters, prepare session descriptions, and moderate webinars.  The Webinar Committee strives to provide a minimum of six (6) educational webinars each calendar year; NEW for 2021 - Focused Conversations - opportunities for members to come together to share ideas, brain-storm solutions, and address issues facing the profession and VE professionals.

Webinar Committee members have a desire to stay on top of trends and have direct input as to the professional development opportunities available to members.  

Key qualifications and skills include:  using member feedback to source timely and relevant educational presenters; good negotiation skills; work in a team environment to secure, promote, and deliver webinars; familiarity with on-line video platforms such as ZOOM, Go to Webinar, and Google Meets; availability to hold webinar rehearsals and to host/moderate webinars a minimum of 2 times per year.

Certification Committee Members

Being a certified volunteer engagement professional is an excellent way to demonstrate your knowledge and proficiency to employers, peers, and volunteers.  Certification Committee members working under the guidance of the Membership Service Co-Chairs, are responsible for the facilitation of CVRM certification/re-certification process.  Certification Committee members support PAVRO members working through the certification process, provide feedback to certification candidates at the end of the marking cycle, and main and prepare and send confirmations of achieved designation CVRM to success candidates.  

“The Certification Committee is one of the most unique committees I’ve had the pleasure to be on.  It is a useful and meaningful way to give back to the profession.  I thoroughly enjoy seeing newly certified members received their CVRM designation because I know it takes hard work and dedication to get there”.

Key qualifications and skills include:  hold current CVRM status with PAVRO; ability to work as part of a provide-wide team; excellent written and communication skills; ability to commit for a two-year term giving 2 – 6 hours per month between October to July; and attend committee meetings as required.

Board of Director Application 

About PAVRO Board of Director Positions: 

Directors volunteer their time and play a vital role in shaping PAVRO’s strategic directions and in providing ongoing governance to the organization. In turn, Directors are provided with the opportunity to gain experience working with a skilled Board of Directors and contribute to the advancement of the volunteer engagement profession. 
The Board conducts much of its work through monthly teleconferences and bi-annual in person meetings. Board members commit an average of 8-10 hours a month, including attendance at board and committee meetings, and providing guidance and support through committee work and other duties. Board members are appointed for a two-year term with the opportunity for renewal.
The benefits of joining a board include: becoming a better leader, learning new skills, building your portfolio, new career opportunities, making a difference and giving back!
