Join Habitat for Humanity Hamilton as the Volunteer Coordinator.  As a Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll be driven to provide a safe, rewarding, and engaging experience for all volunteers.

In this pivotal role, you’ll assist in planning, executing, and enhancing our volunteer programs. Your responsibilities will include leading the strategic planning of volunteer initiatives, from recruitment and onboarding to training and recognition. You'll ensure the health and safety of our volunteers in collaboration with our build and ReStore teams while maintaining comprehensive databases to track activities and measure outcomes. Your communication skills will be vital as you engage with volunteers, corporate partners, home partners, and stakeholders through various channels. You'll also provide onsite volunteer support and training, plan for and support corporate teams on active build sites, speak at community events to increase volunteerism, and contribute to our social media, website, and grant efforts. Ultimately, your dedication will help us fulfil our mission of creating a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.

Position Summary

Volunteer Coordinator, Volunteer Services

Your goal in this role as a part of the dynamic Volunteer Services team will be to attract more than 900 volunteers annually across 5 sites, who are passionate about delivering quality and impactful volunteer programming. You will be is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of an innovative, customer-focused volunteer program, while ensuring that health and safety policies and regulations are followed. You are a superb verbal and written communicator, a natural problem solver, and are highly organized. You enjoy engaging an audience and delivering a variety of presentations. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.

Location: Hybrid Work Model - Home Office/5657 15th Side Road, Milton, Ontario

Reports To: Director of Development

Salary: $50k-$60k annually

The Opportunity: 
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Volunteer Services Officer is responsible for the full scope of activities related to the development and engagement of volunteers across all facets of the organization, from clinical, fundraising, administrative and premises support, to members of the Board of Directors and volunteer committees. Core competencies include recruiting, screening, training, supervising, and stewarding a team of volunteers required for our organization to fulfill its mission and vision in the community. 

Our organization follows a hybrid work model. Given the nature of this position, the successful candidate will be required to work from The Darling Home for Kids a minimum of 2 days per week dependent on business priorities, and their home office the remainder of the time. This position offers a flexible work schedule to accommodate after-hours volunteer training sessions and meetings, supervision of volunteer groups, and on-site event volunteer coordination.
