Presenter Bio: Florence Gilbert Edebiri is a dynamic leader with extensive experience in both for-profit and non-profit sectors. Currently serving as the Manager of Volunteer Services and Non-Clinical Student Placements at Scarborough Health Network (SHN), Florence plays a pivotal role in fostering community engagement and supporting organizational growth. Having lost about 2000 volunteers during the pandemic and is currently rebuilding from 250 returning volunteers in 2022, Florence now manages a team of over 1500 volunteers across three hospitals locations and satellites sites. A passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and belonging, Florence is the Chair of SHN's Community of Inclusion: Blacks United for Inclusion, Leadership, and Development (BUILD). She serves on a number of committees and programs at SHN including the SHN EDI advisory committee. Her leadership has been instrumental in promoting equity and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups within the organization. Florence holds an MBA in Strategic Human Resource Management, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and a certificate in Volunteer Leadership Management. She is an advocate in the community and speaks on topics that promotes belonging and overall well being. She was recognized in 2024 in the community as a remarkable trailblazer and inspiring speaker; empowering individuals and communities to reach their highest potential. Her commitment to excellence, innovative approach to leadership, and unwavering dedication to uplifting others have earned her widespread respect and admiration in the community.
