Overview: Volunteers have stories that can assist in the “R’s” of volunteer management: Recruitment, Retention, Recognition, and Respect. Learn to gather, listen, share and celebrate the stories of volunteers that will boost your recruitment efforts as well as the spirits of your volunteers. This low-tech, high-results workshop will help you build a cost-effective tool kit for action.
Nancy Angus is a long-time Thunder Bay resident. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Lakehead University and has obtained certificates from Ryerson University (Gerontology) and the University of Victoria (Adult and Continuing Education).
After 35 years in the workforce, with roles in Seniors’ recreation, volunteer management and freelance writing & broadcasting, she has launched a new business, Age BIG, which won the Social Innovation Challenge for 2019. As a speaker, blogger, storyteller, community connector and workshop facilitator, Nancy engages individuals and audiences to age BIG - Boldly, Inquisitively and Gratefully.
She is also the founder of WALKstock: Thunder Bay’s Festival of Walking; the Long Live Endorphins women athlete photo series; and the GIANTs (Grand Individuals Aging with Neighbours in Thunder Bay) project. She has been named as Trailblazer for the Influential Women of Northern Ontario awards and was recognized as a Superior Northerner in 2017.
Nancy enjoys walking traveling and embracing new challenges, including learning to swim at age 55! She believes that small acts generate big impacts and credits her 100-year old mother, Sis Angus, as her role model for aging BIG.
