Long time 'friend' of PAVRO contributes to our ongoing success.

PAVRO is pleased to formally acknowledge the long time support and encouragement from Marilyn Mackenzie. In the 1980's, Marilyn established Partners Plus – one of the first leading consulting companies that focused on volunteer management. She published many excellent resources and is probably best known for the "Volunteer Retention Cycle" which became the foundation of working with volunteers. Marilyn taught at Humber College for many years and served on the PAVRO Board of Directors. She helped to develop the PAVRO Standards of Practice.

She formally retired from 'work' in 2008 to spend more time with friends and family. This photo best illustrates Marilyn's love of family and clearly her priorities. She continues of course to be an active volunteer!

In 2009, PAVRO named one of the Conference Bursaries in Marilyn's honour. This provides funding for a PAVRO member to attend the annual conference who otherwise could not attend. This is very much aligned with Marilyn's dedication to the importance of well-trained administrators of volunteers. Over the past few years, Marilyn has generously donated funds to PAVRO that have been used to support both professional development sessions and leadership opportunities for the AVA's.

This year, Marilyn has made an investment in PAVRO and her funds will help to provide subsidy to any associated AVA's wanting the 'Roots & Wings' work shop (Standards of Practice). If possible, funds will also help cover the costs of developing the Webinar technology for this same topic. Without Marilyn's generous support, we would not be able to do either of these activities and provide our membership with increased services.

Thanks Marilyn for your ongoing commitment to volunteer engagement and for your confidence in PAVRO as the vehicle for moving volunteer engagement ever forward!
